	Dear Wonderful Dancing Friends, Thank You for sharing this Amazing, Magical Journey with me!! Like you, I'm a person who totally loves dancing! I've been a student of dance since 1999, been in dance lessons, social events, ballroom activities, and especially Pro-Am Shows. Below are some of the shows in which I've been privileged to appear with my instructor. Special thanks to my Instructor Sarah Berens, for being my awesome guide on this Adventure!!!!! Thank you, Thank you, Sarah!!! As a Dance Advocate and Patron, I'm happy to encourage dance students, with ideas on how to enjoy your journey in dancing, what I've learned in 27 years as a student of dance, finding your ideal teacher, the benefit of private lessons, practice partners, dance etiquette in the ballroom, and the joy of lessons and learning. So Come Dance With Me!!!! I am always happy to practice with other students, and hope that I may learn something with every dance. I will meet a dance partner at their own level, whether you are a beginner, or someone quite better than myself, I'm always happy to dance and to learn! You have taught me so much! Especially, thank you all so much for your kind appraisals of my social dancing etiquette! I learn it all from you!!! Watch for It! Steve's Winter Dance Party is in the planning! All of our dancing friends will be invited! Free Admission of Course! Professional DJ, Dance Instructor, Large Dance Floor, and Food! 	Dance Performances
	Spotlight Performances, also known as Pro/Am Dances, consist of a format that pairs an Amateur with their Professional Teacher, in a Choreographed Dance on Stage. Personalized instruction and preparation provide growth and experience for the student, as well as social interaction in a supportive environment. It takes work, but they are very satisfying and a lot of fun! In the shows below, I've been privileged to participate with my Instructor, Sarah Berens. This list begins with the most recent show. Choreography has been designed by world-famous Waltz expert Tatiana Seliverstova. My instructor/partner will be the amazing Lizeth Katz! It will be staged and produced in a privately hired ballroom, with a top videographer. You'll all be invited! The theme of the web site, is the metaphor of Dancing as Flight, as dramatically represented in the dances to "Windy" (The Association), and in "The Eagle and the Hawk" (John Denver) which we chose for this reason. So the slogan, with the cloud picture, is "We can fly, you know... Come dance with me!" ™

Summer 2025 - Steve & Sarah - "Windy" by The Association Once again I've had the privilege of dancing in a Spotlight Performance with my Instructor, Sarah Berens. The show was the Go Dance Summer Showcase 2025, held May 31, 2025, in Austin. The dance style was Triple East-Coast Swing, and the song "Windy" by The Association, 1967. The Choreography was designed specifically for this performance by Glenn Ball, one of the best! His design has truly captured the spirit of this song, and East Coast Swing is a light-hearted dance style just right for it. If possible, view this on a wide device such as computer or TV. On a cell phone, it's best viewed in horizontal (landscape) orientation. In this performance I feel that Sarah really brought to life the personality of the idealized character "Windy." Many of you may recall what a popular hit it was, on the radio back in the late 60's, and throughout the 70's. "And Windy has stormy eyes / That flash at the sound of lies / And Windy has wings to fly / Above the clouds / Above the clouds..." For my friends and me, it recalls many happy days, wonderful summers, partying, and dancing... dancing.... dancing.... Regards, Steve

Winter 2024 - Steve & Sarah - "Annie's Song" by John Denver Once again I've had the privilege of dancing in a Spotlight Performance with my Instructor, Sarah Berens. The show was the Go Dance Winter Showcase 2024, held Dec 14, 2024, in Austin. The dance style was Viennese Waltz, and the song "Annie's Song" by John Denver. The Choreography was designed specifically for this performance by nationally recognized dance experts Gary McIntyre and Sarah Berens. They have matched the action very well to the lyrics, and to John Denver's unique musical style. If possible, view this on a wide device such as computer or TV. On a cell phone, it's best viewed in horizontal (landscape) orientation. I feel that this performance truly brings to life the romantic and lyrical sentiments of this music. Particularly, in the bridge of the song, he humms the melody, then adds the violins repeating one octave higher; a truly beautiful and moving technique, found in works by Mozart, for example. Special thanks to another of my wonderful teachers, Jennifer Deutrom, who made dramatic improvements to the video for this performance. Thank you so much, Jennifer!!! Summer 2024 - Steve & Sarah - "The Eagle and the Hawk" by John Denver Dear Friends and Colleagues, Once again I've had the privilege of dancing in a Spotlight Performance with my Instructor, Sarah Berens. This time the show was the Go Dance Studios Summer Showcase 2024, held June 22, 2024, in Austin. The dance style was Viennese Waltz, and the song "The Eagle and the Hawk," by John Denver. The Choreography was designed specifically for this performance by nationally recognized dance experts Gary McIntyre and Sarah Berens. They have matched the action very well to the lyrics, and to John Denver's style of performing. Especially gratifying was the audience enthusiasm, such as the cheers when the two characters turn together so energetically at the end of the third verse. If possible, view this on a wide device such as computer or TV. On a cell phone, it's best viewed in horizontal (landscape) orientation. My thoughts on what the song means: It invites the listener to take inspiration from observing the flight of these beautiful birds in the Southwestern part of the North American continent, and to set your goals high, by reaching for the stars. Our costumes were selected for the colors in the Western American deserts, such as browns, reds and turquoise. Winter 2023 - Steve & Sarah - "Moon River" as sung by Mellisa Benoist Dear Friends and Colleagues, For those of you who attended and saw this in person, thank you so very much for your support. Here is the video link. Many of you know that I've been very involved in Ballroom Dancing, Lessons, and Shows for some time. Recently I had the privilege of performing with my Instructor, Sarah Berens, at the Go Dance Studios Winter Showcase 2023, in Austin. The song is "Moon River" (1960, Henry Mancini & Johnny Mercer) as rendered more recently by Melissa Benoist. The Ballroom Waltz choreography was designed by nationally recognized dance experts Gary McIntyre and Sarah Berens, specifically for this performance. Check out how they made the gestures correspond so precisely with the lyrics. If possible, view this on a wide device such as computer or TV. On a cell phone, it's best viewed in horizontal (landscape) orientation. This has always been one of my favorite, most inspiring songs, and the Ballroom Waltz my favorite dance. My own feelings about what the words mean: It's about two idealistic persons who each go out into the world, seeking love, having an ideal of what they're looking for, find each other, and then find that they both share the same view of their destination ("We're after the same rainbow's end.") I believe there's another theme, that true love enlightens and enhances our memories. Perhaps you and your special someone have used the expression, "It seems as though I've known you all of my life." That is, when you think back upon your past, it seems as if they had actually been there with you. I hope you have found this interesting. Please feel free to share my comments.
